Let us all stand together against the war

Hello Members,
It has been a long time since the blog has been inactive. Please excuse your blog editor for the lapse. But this time I had no choice but to reach out to all our members in our city's moment of crisis. The managing committee of Jain Jagruti Centre - Juhu wishes and prays for all their members welfare and good health during these 'Black Letter Days for our City'.

It has been close to 52 hours (till the time I was posting the blog) that our very own city, Mumbai, has been under siege. The city has never seen such a phase where terrorists have dared to come out in open, with arms and ammunition in their hands and upset the rhythm of the city. Left with no choice, as Mumbaikars we have kept quiet and let the administration do damage control.

The situation of the city has definitely become a national concern, but the fact remains at the ground level it is all of us who are under constant threat. There are so many questions that will come across our minds once our Army men and NSG Commandos defeat them. As a part of the Jain Jagruti Centre - Juhu family which believes in cohesiveness we should all stand up together and become much more vigilant and responsible to our city and our country too.

It is time that we not only take pride in achievements of cricketers and Bollywood stars but give salutes to the Heroes of Operation Black Tornado. If not for these brave men who were on their toes for nearly 3 nights continuously so that we could sleep with some peace, the terrorists could have attacked anyone. Some of them laid their lives leading from the front. There would be no words enough for these daring men who have ensured that the destiny and fate of the city is in safe hands.

Therefore, this post is for all who want to put up their views, pay respect and give suggestions on the same issue. Everyone's inputs would be appreciated and definitely be acknowledged too.

Generous Donors of JJC Juhu

Hello Members,
With reference to social commitments to various activities we have found generous donors for Higher Education fund as well as the Mid-Day meal programme...

For higher education fund, one of our jewel members, to commemorate the death anniversary of his Lt.mother Maatushri Kantaben Shantilal Sheth has decided to give a generous amount. JJC Juhu's members and the managing committee thanks the member from the bottom of their heart for the whole-hearted contribution.

As mentioned previously about the Mid-Day meal, the response to the same was phenomenal. As soon as the circular reached our Jewel member Manishbhai Shah, he decided to donate the full amount of the project all by himself. The centre has received the sum from Manishbhai and once again we thank him for his timely endowment and interest in the social commitments of the centre.

A small update to make our country proud. The following event has happened after a wait of more than 100 years. Mother India has been made proud by it's boxer and wrestling son.
Sushil Kumar in wrestling has won India a bronze medal and Jitender Kumar has been confirmed a bronze atleast and can easily lay his hands on Silver or may be a gold too. He has qualified for the semi finals and if he progresses he may win the elusive gold. Let's pray for him..

Abhinav Bindra creates history

Hello Members,

Here is some good news for all Indians. India's ace shooter Abhinav Bindra won Gold Medal in 10 metres Air Rifle shooting in Beijing Olympics. India's start to the games was dismal and all other shooters including Anjali Bhagwat, hyped Archers were a let down.

Bindra's victory is a welcome break from the no medal table of India. Even India's badminton prodigy Saina Nehwal has progressed well and moved to the quarter finals. The victory that came as a big news to one and all was achieved in the morning.

More medals are now expected from last edition silver medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in double trap shooting event and also from the former world doubles champion pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes. Let us all pray together for the best. Chak De India...

Now Olympics also Made In China

Hello Members,

Since updates and information on programmes of our Centre have been updated for a long time now, I thought pointing out the greatest sporting spectacle on Earth, Beijing Olympics would be a good read.

The 29th Olympic games being held in Beijing city of China is starting from 8th August, 2008. While all you members would be on your way to enjoy the programme of the centre, the opening ceremony of the Games would start precisely at 08:08:08 (hh/mm/ss) and that also on 08/08/08 (dd/mm/yy). What a co-incidence.

With the sports extravaganza being held in the Chinese city, it will again display China's might as an upcoming superpower in the world. India is being represented by a small contingent of 57 athletes. Our best medal hope lies with the Shooters.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore brought a silver in the Athens 2004. He will also be the flag bearer of Indian contingent in the opening ceremony. Gagan Narang is another shooter to watch out for. In womens category, Anjali Bhagwat could be a good bet. Former tennis doubles champ pair of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi are also representing together to have a go at the doubles medal. Nevertheless, Paes had won a singles bronze way back in the Atlanta Games in 2000.

We also have a few boxers and archers who have the ability to surprise one and all. Rest of the contingent consists of athletes representing in Track and Field, Sailing, Swimming, Badminton where a medal prospect is too bleak. In any case, the USP of this Olympiad is the fact that this would be one of the most technologcially advanced Olympic games in the history. For a snap shot, they have a 350 inch wide roof LED screen fitted outside the National stadium.

Live telecast of the Olympics would be on DD Sports and no other channel. Time difference is that China is two hours ahead of us, so possibly the games would be seen live from moning 7:00 am or 8:00 am. Enjoy...

In the heart of India

The roads which run through the green patches in Panchmarhi

A view of the breathtaking Marbles rock in Bhedaghat (above and below)

Hello Members,

Here is a low-down on the place where our centre plans to send our members during the Diwali holidays. The central most provinces located in the geographic heart of India, Madhya Pradesh has been zeroed down as the final destination.

Who does not know Khajuraho or Rewa district where the first white tigers in India were found. The proposed Diwali tour will take our members through the glittering splendour of Marble Rocks in Bhedaghat. Undoubtedly these white rocks are genuine spectacles of nature. The moonlit journey to this place will give your eye a serene and tranquil sensation.

Also watch out for the Dhuandhar falls in Bhedghat. The sound of the vociferous waterfalls can spark enthusiasm even in a dead man’s body.

The next best destination in this state is the hill station called Pachmarhi. It is Madhya Pradesh's most verdant jewel, a place where nature gives out a breathtaking expression. It is green coloured all over the mountains, and the peaceful environment is such that even the soothing hum of flowing water is audible from a distance.

The magnificence of nature is complemented by the works of man from the medieval period. Pachmarhi is an archaeological treasure-house. The Mahadeo Hills caves are stocked with rock paintings of super richness. The earliest paintings in the caves are an estimated 10,000 years old.
Tell me honestly how many of you actually and almost went on to Madhya Pradesh while reading. If this happens just while reading this post, imagine what experience you all would have while encountering the nature's amazing beauties. So one and all keep in touch with the committee for the progress on the tour to MP.

The recently organised eye check up camp has been highly appreciated by our members. Most of them have benefited a lot from the help given by Dr. Jagruti Desai MS (Opth). ANNADAAN

Our centre has been on the front post for Annadaan project for last three years with the help of its generous members. To take a step forward in the same direction, our centre is getting associated with a state government initiative. JJC Juhu has decided to be a part of Maharashtra government and ISKCON Foor Relief Foundation project called MID-DAY meal for the government aided and municipal school children. Our centre has decided to sponsor meals for 100 students of a Municipal school located in Andheri East. The approximate cost of the same is Rs.1.44 lakh. Members who wish to donate for this initiative can offer their help and get in touch with the committee members. The donation will give 100 % Tax Exemption under I.T. section 35 AC.

PARYUSHAN VYAAKHYAAN MALA

As our religious festival Paryushan Parva approaches during the last week of August and first week of September, Jain Jagruti Centres with Jain Social Groups would be organising a Vyaakhyaan Mala. The details of the same would be announced soon.

We are Connected now..

Hello Members,

I feel happy to announce that some of our members have taken out time from their busy schedules to look at our blog. The feedback received till now has been very positive and encouraging. Since they are the one of the first few, let me mention their names to create the bonding which would last long.

First on the ball was Virag Shah who says, "I really appreciate that the group is trying to use latest technology to communicate its members. Keep updating the blog so that even if one does not receive the circular, he/she has the other option. Keep it up."

Then it was Kenil Sheth who also felt that: The blog is made pretty neat and he liked the communication notices made to members. He says, "Do let me know if I can assist on anything further. Good job.Thanks."

Mahendrabhai Lakhani was another member who found the posting interesting and intends to send useful articles and read-ups for all members. His feedback is highly appreciated and looking forward for a feedback from all members. If anyone of you has any suggestion, it is most welcomed. Awaiting some more mails and replies. Thanks.

The latest feedback has come from Harshad bhai Shah. He says, "This is really an excellent initiative from JJC Juhu (16). At a later date, we can do away with physical circular for those members who have on line access of their mail. If not members, atleast their children would have e mail access."

The ball is rolling. As more and more feedbacks come I will keep posting it on the blog..Thank you all..

Hello Members,

I know it has been a long time and there has been no news from our side, but let me put the blame on the rains. The last few days Rain God has not allowed me to sit home or in office to pen down another post for you all.

Anyways coming to the point, this is the update to our next programme which is scheduled on Friday, 8th August, 2008 at Bhaidas Hall from 09:30 pm. It is a Daairo called Kausumbi No Rang presented by Lakhan Odedra. The artists of the presentation are Bihari Hemu Gadhvi, Tina Chheda, Hareshdan Gadhvi with Jiludan Gadhvi compering the show.

That is not all. There is also delicious food for all of you. Members will be served a box full of heavy snacks with their tickets. The distribution of tickets and snacks would start from 08:30 pm to 09:30 pm. Please ensure you get your programme cards as well as the dinner cards and co-operate with the working committee.

In between all this if you want to celebrate your Diwali out of Mumbai, JJC Juhu plans to help you for an outing of around 9 days. The committee is in discussions with various leading hotels to organise an enjoyable tour at the best possible price. The place has not been zeroed in, but very soon it will be announced.

The Jain Jagruti Centre - Charitable Trust has announced that it has set a target of collecting Rs4.5 crores through donations for Higher Education Fund. This target will only be achieved if the members of all the groups come forward to support. For further details please contact the committee.

Samuh Lagna has been one of the biggest success story for JJC-Central Board. This years edition of Samuh Lagna has been announced to be held on 13th December, 2008 at the SRP Grounds in Jogeshwari (East).

Coming back to activities in our centre, the committee has put forward a proposal to revise the Annual Subscription fees for members and the Renewal Fees for Jewel Members too. Since now we have a platform in form of this blog where we can exchange ideas and initiate a discussion, committee would appreciate a feedback on the same from the members at the earliest possible time. Looking forward for genuine suggestions.

Till then enjoy the little left monsoon season and await another chilling winter. Also hope all your family and friends in the blast torn city of Ahmedabad and terrified Surat are well. Still awaiting more and more feedback on jjcjuhu16@gmail.com..
